We intentionally treated them as separate options because the functionality and UX can be incredibly different between platforms. Some apps appear on both lists because they’re available for smartphones and desktops. We separated our findings by smart device and desktop experiences, as we realize that not all people are comfortable with or have access to both. Each app was used to create the same downstairs basement room to more objectively compare user experience. Our research mostly focused on free virtual room designer tools (because remodeling and moving can be expensive enough as it is).
